What Others Are Saying About Sally Mizerak . . .

"On behalf of the Community College of Allegheny County's Institute for Volunteerism, I want to thank you for the super training that you gave this morning on "Growing Your Volunteer Program, -- a Marketing Workshop." . . . those attending felt it was a great learning experience and a spring board to the work they must now do individually to target the marketing concepts you gave to their specific program. All of their comments were enthusiastically positive! As always, I am truly grateful to you for agreeing to conduct the session and share you expertise with the Directors of Volunteer Programs at our area's nonprofit organizations.

"It's always a pleasure working and spending time with you Sally. I hope that we can call on your expertise again as CCAC's Institute for Volunteerism begins its next twenty-five years of improving the skills of volunteer directors, and therefore the quality of volunteer programs, throughout Western Pennsylvania. Again, thank you."

Not only was the topic timely and interesting, but you also were able to apply the information directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters and our individual circumstances. I also appreciated your attention to board members and their special characteristics as volunteers.

--Walter F. Jenkins

"On behalf of all the participants at the Regional Leadership Day and the planning committee, thank you for spending the day with us and then concluding with a great opportunity for reflection. It was the perfect way to end the day and to think about what transpired.

"We greatly appreciate your expertise and your support of our efforts to create an understanding of regionalism and spirit of cooperation. Your facilitation skills are masterful . . . We could all learn by watching you."

--Beth Wainwright

"Thanks to you and Mary Jo for making our Board retreat a great success. While we understand that we may have come to the same conclusions on our own, without your research, knowledge gathering and guidance of the retreat itself, the process would have been torture.

We accomplished a great deal in very short time and we all have a renewed sense of purpose and clarity. I am happy to recommend you any organization in need of assistance."

--Paul Martino
President, AFTRA

"I was moved by your seminar on 5/24. After 23 years it's hard to get me motivated. I have heard so many speakers that I am always half heartily going into these seminars. You were definitely above the rest. I would like to purchase a copy of the tape that you presented at your seminar. It was showing the difference between the PCP and the Vet. I would appreciate any information you could give me on how to purchase this tape. Thank you."

--Soney Hockenberry

"I can't thank you enough for facilitating the Excellence in Nonprofit Leadership and Management seminar at WQED. Your knowledge and experience certainly proved to be valuable to the participants. . . and to us. Being able to partner with Leadership Pittsburgh on this project has created a component that is priceless.

"We have tried to provide as much information as much information as possible at a very affordable fee—one that small nonprofits could afford. We couldn't have provided this service without you."

--Kweilin Nassar
Director of Community Relations, WQED Pittsburgh

"Thank you for providing the Marketing training to Maryland AmeriCorps programs and technical assistance to Volunteer Maryland! The feedback from both events were wonderful. The Commission and the program directors all appreciated the time and effort you made to provide a meaningful event. I hope to be able to include you in future AmeriCorps training and technical assistance activities. Thank you again for an excellent training and technical assistance."

--Silchen Lee
Project Director, AmeriCorps Training and Technical Assistance

"I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your participation in our program on Customer Satisfaction. We got quite high ratings for that program and felt that we were very successful in our endeavor.

"Part of that success can clearly be attributed to you. You brought an essential element to the program that was in fact quite different than any of the other speakers. In my opinion, you made the concept of customer of consumer satisfaction very personal to the audience. By relating the examples and stories that you did, it was quite clear to everyone in the audience what was meant by the concept of customer satisfaction in healthcare.

"There are a number of changes taking place now at St. Francis Medical Center. We really are attempting to focus much more on the patients and families that visit our institution. I have you and the other members of the faculty to thank for those changes."

--John W. Hoyt, M.D.
Program Director, Thirteenth Annual Issues in Tertiary Care Meeting

"It is my pleasure to render these observations of Ms. Sally Mizerak's performance on behalf of the Missouri Patient Care Review Foundation (MPCRF) in connection with her participation in the strategic planning retreat of MPCRF's Board of Directors on January 22, 1998.

"Sally played a key role in "setting the table" for the entire retreat. Her presentation to the Board on the Friday night prior to the full-day retreat, "Focus of Fail" was integral to establishing an environment in which the organization's future could be explored. The presentation itself was masterfully delivered, a result not only of her own considerable previous speaking experience and consulting work with companies and organization but also her willingness to engage key Board members and staff regarding the major short and long term issues confronting MPCRF. In addition to obtaining important background information on MPCRF prior to her arrival, she came to Kansas City a day early so that she could meet personally with officers and key staff.

"That the retreat was a huge success is in large part a reflection on her contribution to the weekend enterprise. On Saturday, the Board members, most of who are practicing physicians, arrived ready to brainstorm and to make critical strategic decisions on behalf of the organization. Indeed, they surpassed the expectations of the retreat facilitator.

"I would not hesitate to recommend Sally as a consultant to any of the quality improvement organizations in the country as they struggle with how best to respond effectively to a continually changing environment that confronts them.

--Dan Jaco
Chief Executive Officer, Missouri Patient Care Review Foundation

"This is the second time I have retained this practice. One with another organization that was losing money and needed the team to think differently. Sally Mizerak helped them learn how to rethink the business, to see needs and solutions differently. Versitile, adept, a great task master when needed, flexible but results and measurement oriented . . . with a huge reservoir of facilitation skills to keep a group on task and "un-stuck."

--Jerry Cozewith
Executive Director, National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship

"Sally Mizerak was very effective at leading a large board (22) through a productive strategic planning discussion the generated great ideas, much enthusiasm and strong commitment from volunteers to industry association. Participants felt that sessions were well organized, productive and instructive. We created a five year strategic plan that provides for new mission, articulate objectives and reasonable means to measure and manage resources and priorities. Sally was an effective resource to help our 96-year old industry association to be refreshed and strengthened for the next century."

--Rob Thornton
President, International District Energy Association

"Sally Mizerak is extremely knowledgeable and is able to communicate her knowledge to a wide range of constituencies. Everyone that worked with her within our organization was always very comfortable and pleased with her services. We would definitely use her again and were an extremely satisfied customer."

--Sally Rich
COO, Asbury Health services

"Sally Mizerak was absolutely dependable, professional and quite competent in delivering the results expected under this strategic planning engagement. I would recommend her to any firm engaged in internal strategic planning, leadership development and building consensus on strategies for growth. Her techniques were precise and well delivered."

--Bruce Ahern
former Director of Planning, Port Authority of Allegheny County
